Soccer Gear – The Right Equipment For Kids
If your kids are taking part in soccer training, it is important that you provide them with the proper equipment, both for protection and for comfort while playing. In discussing soccer gear for kids, I want to first of all talk about protective gear.
There is not a lot of safety equipment needed, but there is one essential they must wear for soccer, whether training or playing matches – and that is, or those are, shin pads, or guards. So how do you choose the right shin guards for yor child?
From my own personal experience, there are many different styles and makes of leg guards. They may come with ankle sleeves, or without ankle sleeves. It is equally important to understand that there are many different materials that make up the composition of shin guards.
The first thing to be sure of is a good fit. It is not a good idea to purchase shin guards that are too tight as this may result in movements during soccer training to be restrictive, and may cause a loss of proper circulation throughout the legs, not good. If a shin guard is too loose on the other hand, the player will suffer as well as they may slip before an impact with another player, thus providing very little protection. So purchase shin guards that are secure around the leg of the player, but with enough room to fit a fingertip in comfortably. Additionally, the shin guard should not reach the knee as this can result in injury during soccer training.
Make sure that the guard is appropriate for the age of the player. For kids, sets that are specifically for children should be chosen. If the player is an adult, then adult shin guards should be bought. When trying on the shin guards that you are interested in purchasing, it is a good idea to try them on while wearing your soccer cleats and standard socks. This will help to determine if the guard is compatible and fits appropriately with your other equipment. Most online stores will let you return goods if the size is not ideal.
Choose a set that has enough cushioning too, as this helps make the guards more comfortable and also helps to protect the shins more effectively. Many come with ankle protectors. Purchasing this particular style can prove to help prevent injuries along the ankle and bottom part of the leg and aid in the comfort of play.

Camping With Kids – 4 Fun Outdoor Toys to Keep Your Kids Happy During Your Camping Holiday
It can be hard to get our kids away from their adored computer games, play station and TV programs and fill them with enthusiasm about a camping trip without all these things. If you feel your kids won’t easily adapt to campground life and won’t know how to play in pure nature, try taking some outdoor toys along to keep them busy.
Here are 4 fun outdoor toys that help your child to play active in the camp:
- Balls
- Water toys
- Throwing games
- Play tents
Fun outdoor toys #1: Balls
All kinds of toys that involve balls are usually great fun. Throwing and catching balls helps your kids to improve their coordination, and ball games are very good for playing together. Think of getting outdoor toys like a basketball set, a soccer ball, or simply some colourful balls in various sizes, maybe with pictures of your child’s favourite TV program or video game.
Fun outdoor toys #2: Water toys
Can you remember how much fun it was to chase each other with a water gun? Your kids will enjoy this kind of toys, too. You can also take a big packet of balloons with and fill these with water to make water bombs. Let your kids have a water battle with these. A blow-up pool with different water toys also works well.
Fun outdoor toys #3: Throwing games
One of the biggest attractions at summer festivals is throwing boards. Get a colourful board to set up, or make one with your kids’ favourite theme. They can practice their throwing skills by throwing little balls or beanbags into the wholes of the board. These toys are great for “competitions”. If you don’t want to take a heavy board, try a dart board, or Gigatent’s TossIt which is a light net construction with pop-up design.
Fun outdoor toys #4: Play tents
You can surprise your little one with a simple kids dome tent that can be both a place to play and sleep in. Or you can get an outdoor play tent in your child’s favourite theme, e.g. a castle or airplane. If they are easy to set up, you can just fold them up in the evening and take them into your tent for the night. Alternately, you can go for a miniature tent that your child can use to play stories with his action figures or other little toy heroes.
Outdoor toys can do a great job to keep your kids busy and entertained during your camping holiday. This will work even better if they are new, since new things have a tendency of fascinating kids.

The world of technology is fun and it is all around us. Yet there are some drawbacks to it as well. Many parents fondly remember the days when they spent the summer outdoors playing with their friends. Even after school they would find great activities to take part in until dinner time. Too many children today though end up sitting in the house playing video games, watching TV, or looking at stuff on the internet.
It is important for children to get outside for exercise each day. Statistics show that overweight children is at an all time high. There are many great outdoor activities that can get your kids off the couch and outdoors. Skateboarding is one of them that they will find to be challenging as well as exciting. Instead of you telling them to get outside and find something to do, you will likely need to go out there and get them when you need for them to come back in.
It takes plenty of practice to learn the right way to skateboard. It doesn’t end there though as the basics are just the beginning. Then your child can work on getting faster, learning tricks, and more. They can also use their skateboard as a way to get to school, the park, or the library. They will find it more convenient than riding a bike and it will save you from being their taxi.
On a precautionary note, you want to make sure you take the time to review skateboarding equipment. Many parents don’t realize that the type of skateboarding deck and wheels have a significant impact on what a child can do with it. Find out what they plan to take part in so you can offer them the right product. You also want to make sure they have a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads that fit properly. They should always have these items on any time they are using their skateboard.
You can also help them to find great tips online or buy them DVD’s that they can watch indoors. This way they can take the information they watch and apply it as they learn to ride their skateboard. The more that they learn, they more confident they will become in their abilities. Then they will start to become creative and come up with new ideas that they can implement on their own as well.
This is a great way to get your child active on a regular basis. The thrill of riding a skateboard is one that they will want to take part in several times a week. Many children rides theirs daily as long as the weather permits them to do so.
If your child has expressed any type of interest in skateboarding, then encourage them to take part in it. You want them to be in the habit of getting of the couch and outdoors from a very early age. The longer you allow them to be inside with various forms of technology the harder it will be for them to break such habits. You want to raise happy and healthy children.
Many of them aren’t fond of exercise that is hard work or that is boring. Yet they will have the opportunity to get plenty of exercise when they ride a skateboard. They will be having so much fun with it that they aren’t even going to think of it as exercise or work. Instead they will view it as an activity that gives them the freedom to express themselves in a way that reflects their interests and who they are.

Summer is a Great Time For Kids to Learn How to Skateboard
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Pauls]John Pauls
Kids love the idea of being out of school for the summer but soon that thrill wears off. It can be hard for parents to keep their kids entertained all summer long. You definitely don’t want them sleeping all day, then getting up to either watch TV or play video games. You want them to be outdoors and to be active as much as possible. Yet telling them to go out and play can result in some kids complaining about it. They will tell you that there is nothing to do.
Summer can be an expensive time too if you are taking your kids to do things all the time. These days the economy isn’t great so families are cutting back in that department as well. As a result kids are feeling like summer is a drag. You don’t want them to get involved in things that aren’t healthy for them either.
That is why summer is a great time for kids to learn how to skateboard. The initial investment is minimal and your children can have a great time learning new things and mastering the basics. They can also learn from each other and hopefully make some new friends at the skate park in town as well.
When you get the necessary items for your children to skateboard you will find that they want to be outdoors more. In fact you may have to remind them to be inside before dark at night when they start to focus their time on such events. If your child has a summer birthday then that can be the perfect gift for them. Make sure they have all the safety equipment they need too in order to reduce the risk of injuries while they are skateboarding.
If you have a child that needs to lose some weight over the summer then the sport can help them to do so. As they shed some of those pounds they will become better skaters too and that continues to motivate them to be a part of it. Your child also won’t be bored and result to eating more as a way to fill up that timeframe. By the end of summer your child can be healthier than they were at the end of the school year. This can help them return to the curriculum with more self confidence than they had in the past.
By the end of summer your children are going to be showing off with their skateboards. You will be amazed by how much they have learned to do with it over the course of a couple of months. They will have had a fun filled summer too and have a perfect subject for those return to school essays about how they spent their summer vacation.
Since skateboarding is also a great form of exercise you will be doing your park to get them outdoors and doing something creative as well as productive. You don’t want your kids to spend their summer indoors doing nothing but sitting in front of the TV or playing various video games. Give them the tools to have some fun with this amazing sport this summer. Both of you will be very happy that you did.
You may discover by then that the entire neighborhood is taking part in skateboarding. The kids will have a great time learning from each other and possibly even building ramps that they all share for the activities. They can also take pride in teaching the new kids the basics so that they can join in for all of the fun.

With the multimedia upbringing modern children have it can sometimes be unusual for them to receive a traditional wooden toy. However it has now been discovered that these simple old fashioned toys have a greater an impact on learning than the electronic gadgets many youngsters are exposed to.
Old Fashioned Toys Inspire Learning
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Gary_Clay]Gary Clay
Toys don’t have to feature loud noises, flashing lights, and other electronic functions to be fun and entertaining to children. Many simple, old fashioned toys still please today’s children as much as they did twenty, and even forty, years ago. Old fashioned toys also inspire learning. Their simplicity encourages children to use their imaginations and to discover new things.
Reading is one of the best pastimes your child can enjoy. Provide plenty of age appropriate books about a variety of different topics. It is also important to introduce your child to all the various literature genres. Read fiction and non-fiction books together and discuss the differences. Explore several types of poetry and read biographies about someone your child has an interest in.
Dress up clothes are old fashioned toys that will never cease to delight young children. Career accessories, like fireman boots and hats, policeman uniforms, and mail bags, are great for role playing. Extra costumes are also a lot of fun for pretend play and are a good way to enhance language skills by acting out stories, movies, or favorite television shows. For real old fashioned toys, fill an old trunk with old prom gowns, wedding dresses, tuxedos, and suits as well as plenty of old fashioned accessories. Your child and her friends will enjoy hours of make believe fun.
Felt boards are also classic old fashioned toys that still promise tons of creative fun and learning opportunities. Felt board figures are available to create pretend play scenarios and to recreate stories and books or you can make your own old fashioned felt toys by cutting a variety of shapes from several colors of felt sheets. Your child can build all sorts of creations with the felt shapes.
Old fashioned toys like paper dolls and puppets encourage children to pretend and enhance language and social development as well. Paper dolls can be easily created by you and your child with a printer and cardstock. There are a number of templates available online. You can encourage your child to create their own paper doll clothes by tracing around the doll and coloring.
Puppets are old fashioned toys that have seen many, many changes. Today, special puppet stages are available as well as ethnic family puppets and several other characters. Children still love the old fashioned puppets they make themselves too. Simple sock puppets, craft stick families, and paper bag hand puppets are fun and easy to make and provide lots of learning benefits.
Instruments and musical toys have been a part of childhood for centuries. These old fashioned toys have also seen a lot of changes, with modern musical toys offering microphones, electronic sounds, and recording features. Traditional musical instruments like small drums, xylophones, and kazoos are still just as enjoyable and educational as their modern versions.
Instruments are fun and easy to make from basic household supplies. Shakers and maracas can be made from small containers filled with rice or beans or from paper mache. Help your child hammer nails across a small wooden block, then string rubber bands between the nails for a fun guitar. You can make music with just about anything from sand paper to a comb and wax paper.
The love of old fashioned toys will most likely continue through several more centuries of childhoods. These types of toys are held dear because of their simplicity. Old fashioned toys invite children to take over play time, to use their imagination, and to explore the world around them.

Wooden blocks Walker
This is a great product, my 12 month old twins love the blocks, especially the sensory ones. Very sturdy design when pushed around, would totally recommend this for any toddler.
Great walker
Though the product says suitable for 12+, I initially bought it for my 8 month old, and she played with cubes, and started learning to get up and then walk since her 10month. She’s 1 year old now and walks all along with her walker, puts her baby doll in there to carry it around. The cubes are great, that was the main reason for me to chose this one over similar products, lots of different bits and forms for a little one to play with.
Had to put something heavier on it when my daughter were just learning, as the item is not heavy enough if the baby is not stable, but she’s much more confident on balance and walking now when she’s 12 months, so the walker works just fine, and I expect it will have a long life as she just starts building towers and stuff.
Wooden Trolley
An excellent quality wooden walker with bricks. My one year old grandson loves it. Highly recommended.
Toddler Learning Toys For Christmas 2009
Do you need to buy a Christmas gift for a toddler but aren’t sure what the top toddler learning toys are for this age group? You don’t want to pick out the wrong gift, so follow this advice on the best ones to choose and your tiny tot will be extremely happy!
Toddler Learning Toys For Christmas 2009
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tiffany_Dow]Tiffany Dow
Do you need to know what constitutes a good toddler learning toy? Is it the lights and sounds that make it appealing or its ability to evolve with your child as he or she grows?
For a long time, I was choosing the wrong kind of toys for my kids. I bought whatever was a learning toy type of brand – like LeapFrog – without thinking about whether my child would actually play with it. And if they never invest any time in it, then it’s a waste of money.
Here are the top toddler learning toys for Christmas 2009:
1.) Arts and crafts for toddlers – When children get to get messy, it makes them absorb all sorts of information and branch out to create their own world. Melissa and Doug toys – specifically the Easel, are great artistic and educational toys for toddlers.
2.) Electronic toys for toddlers – LeapFrog and Fisher Price lead the industry in electronic toys for little kids. They do more than just include flashing lights and cute little sounds. They get your toddler to make decisions on what actions to take next and reward them for when they succeed. LeapFrog Scribble and Write is currently one of the bestsellers in this category.
3.) Interactive toys for toddlers – Interactive toys are those that give your child the chance to participate in the learning process. This year, one of the hottest toddler educational toys are the Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters. These toys are better than the real deal because there’s no mess to clean up, no real food to buy – your boy or girl will adore how the hamsters act and look real, moving from room to room to participate in activities and aking realistic noises. The learning part comes into play as your child cares for and nurtures his or her pet.
4.) Life skills learning toys for toddlers – Life skill toys are those that teach kids the basics they’ll need throughout life, such as how to tell time, knowing their shapes, counting numbers and discovering the alphabet and spelling. The bestselling toddler toy in this group is called My Tot Clock: Helping Small Children Sleep Better…So Parents Can Too!
5.) Action figures and dress up toys for toddlers – Don’t underestimate the little action figures your toddler boy may crave. They stimulate imaginative play, just as the costumes and dress up toys do for little girls. One of the best action figure playsets for boys this Christmas 2009 is the Fisher-Price Super Friends Batcave. And for dress-up, it’ll be International Playthings My First Purse in Purple.
One thing is important to remember when choosingtoddler learning toys – you’ll often find that gender doesn’t matter. Boys might want to play with girlie items and girls may love the toolset that a little toddler boy would be getting for Christmas.

The Ultimate LEGO Building Set is a must have for any child, even in this day and age. Don’t you remember your own childhood, when you spent so many hours playing with your LEGO set, building your own houses, animals, vehicles, and even make-believe creations brick-by-brick? If you do, then you’ll agree that playing with these bricks composes some of your most fond memories as a child.
This particular LEGO set is pretty basic. It contains 403 pieces of bricks, excluding the mini-figurines, windows, doors, and wheels which you can use to build your creations. If you plan to build something big, there is a building plate provided as well to serve as the base of your supersized creation.
To aid you in getting ideas for things to build, an instruction manual comes with the set. This manual contains 5 step by step instructions plus 25 photographs to inspire you to create and to enliven your imagination. The container of the set is shaped small and rectangular, so it will be easy to store any drawer or shelf. Likewise, the cover is transparent, so you can show what you have built to your family and friends.
LEGO is one of those toys that will probably outlive all of us, and for good reason. It is virtually indestructible. You can always find new and bigger things to build with the bricks, so its replay value is very high. Likewise, it also helps increase your creativity and fuels your imagination.
